New ICT Suite and Smartboards for Primary School

How fantastic to see the new ICT suite and Smartboards up and running at St Marks Primary School in Brighton.  Gone are the large groups of pupils sharing a single working computer, and in its place is a full suite of computers and classroom Smartboards, fit for teaching the essential digital skills young people need in today's tech-based world.

Cuts in school funding combined with high levels of deprivation in the community meant pupils and teachers were having to cope with old, outdated and in many cases broken computers.  A situation that was restricting students access to technology and stifling their opportunity to develop much needed digital skills.

In addition to Fonthill's support to install the new classroom equipment and new IT desk chairs for pupils, funding was also provided to supply a number of teacher PC's enabling staff to effectively plan their teaching so that they can maximise time in the classroom for learning.

St Mark's school moto is 'Aim high, Believe, Achieve' something that is difficult to realise without the right teaching and learning equipment.  The new technology provided by us will ensure that all their pupils are taught ICT skills from the national curriculum in the necessary high-speed, high-tech environment required to meet these expectations.

From the lovely thank you letters we received, clearly both pupils and staff are thrilled with their new equipment.  One student summed it up when she said, "Thank you for our lovely computers, they work and are really fast now".
