We are committed to making a lasting impact through our grant programs, both overseas and within the United Kingdom.
By providing grants for educational opportunities and inspirational life experiences, we have helped young people build new skills, provided access to new learning opportunities and enhanced education opportunities for all.
Our Overseas Grant Programme
Applications to our overseas grant program are available by invitation only. We actively seek new partnerships where we can identify opportunities for sustainable educational benefits that might otherwise go unfunded.
Key Considerations:
- Focus regions: For monitoring and accountability, our grant support is concentrated on a select number of overseas regions.
- UK charitable arm: We collaborate with international partners that have a UK registered charitable arm.
- Community empowerment: It is essential for us that our international partners demonstrate an established relationship with the communities in which they operate and a genuine commitment to empowering community growth and development through education.
Our UK Programmes
Fonthill Foundation offers various grant programs within East and West Sussex.
Larger UK Grants
Similar to our overseas grants, applications for our larger UK Grants are available by invitation only. We actively seek partnerships with local organisations that have clear educational objectives and a strong passion for making a difference in the lives of young people in their communities.
Community Grants
Our Community Grants Programme is open for applications with two funding rounds per year, in autumn and spring, offering grants of up to £5,000. We encourage applications from organizations that meet our eligibility criteria and can demonstrate strong educational outcomes from their projects.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Location: Applicants must be based in East or West Sussex and be a UK registered charity, CIO, CIC, constituted voluntary/community group, or school.
- Educational Focus: Projects must promote education or access to educational opportunities and show clear education-focused outcomes, even if not within a formal educational setting.
- Geographical Scope: Projects must be delivered in East or West Sussex and completed within 12 months of receiving a grant.
- Organisational Requirements: Organisations must have been active for at least 12 months and provide recent financial accounts and a safeguarding policy. Applicants cannot apply if they have any other active Fonthill Foundation Grants currently running.
2023-24 Focused Grants
In addition to our main grant programs, each year our Trustees allocate funding to areas of specific need. This allows us to respond to the evolving needs of those we support and changing global and local landscapes.
This year’s focus is on:
- School Counseling & Therapy Support Grants: Addressing post-COVID challenges related to mental health and well-being in young children, affecting their ability to engage with learning.
- School Residential Activities Grants: Mitigating the impact of the current UK cost of living and school funding crisis, leading to cuts in extra-curricular opportunities for pupils, especially in school residential experiences.
Application Rounds
