School Hall Build - Uganda

Children at St John Leonard School had no communal space or facility where the whole school could meet to learn together or celebrate school life.

Come rain or shine pupils were sitting outside at break times, eating their lunch perched on rocks in the dust or mud.  With the support of the Fonthill Foundation and St Paul's Primary School, Brighton, this is all changing.

"We are so grateful for the help to build a school hall for our children.  This will transform life at the school and allow us to do so many activities as a whole school."

The school hall build project has been a whole school effort and not just the building team in Mpigi Uganda.

When significant quantities of water were required for the construction, staff and pupils were there to help, bringing water from the well to the building site.

It is wonderful to see such quick progress, with the roof and windows now on and the building watertight.  Work will continue during the school holidays to get the building finished and ready for classes.

Everyone is getting involved with the build!
