Creating a School Community Sensory Garden
We are delighted to offer a Community Grant to support the creation of a sensory garden at ST Margarets CofE Primary School in Rottingdean.
This whole-school project will create an inspiring outdoor 'classroom' where pupils from all year groups can learn essential life-skills, as well as enriching the teaching and learning that takes place in the classroom. Activities in the new garden will be closely linked to the curriculum, tying in with subjects such as the arts, science, maths and english.
The garden will be developed to incorporate raised planting beds growing a variety of herbs, vegetables and plants, as well as an area for fruit trees and a mini-orchard. The space will also be designed as a haven for bugs and wildlife, with bug hotels, bird boxes and feeders built into the area.
We look forward to seeing the garden come to fruition and hopefully tasting some of the delicious things the children grow!
