Outdoor Wildlife & Gardening Sessions for Little Conservationists
We are thrilled to be helping this lovely local charity run nature classes for pre-school children. Louise and Mami (a nutritionist and an early years trained teacher) are dedicated to teaching little ones all about nature and the environment they live in.
Plot 22 is a community allotment in a built-up area of hove where the children can get their hands dirty, digging and planting in the garden.
The sessions include lots of fun and educational activities about conservation, wildlife, nature, food growing and cooking. Young children and their carers will learn how to identify plants which produce fruit and vegetables, taste the freshly picked produce and help prepare a meal to have together in the garden kitchen. The children discover through play and story-telling about the seasonal changes in flora and fauna and how to protect the natural environment. They begin to understand where food comes from and about nutrition , all of these are important life skills the families can use at home.
Many of these children do not have gardens so this project gives them the wonderful opportunity to play outside, learn about growing & cooking food, as well as enjoy all the great outdoors has to offer like pond dipping and watching the bees and wildlife in action.
