Funding for Young Sports Leaders Skills Training
StreetGames supports disadvantaged communities through sports. StreetGames young leaders are key to delivering the range of 'door step' activities that the Charity supports across the country. This network of activities enable some of the 4 million children growing up in poverty to enjoy participation in dance, fitness and grass roots sports e.g. football, cricket, tennis.
The 100's of young leaders, who volunteer across the StreetGames network, need the training and skills to safely deliver local sports activities. This is where the SreetGames annual residential training course comes in, and this year we are really pleased to have provided a Community Grant to fund the costs of a group of young leaders from East Sussex to attend the training.
During the 3-day course the group from Sussex joined more than 65 young people from across the country, developing valuable volunteering and inter-personal skills that will enable them to perform their role as a StreetGames Young volunteer, as well as developing long-term life skills.
A StreetGames spokesperson added "the residential is all about creating a legacy, with the team of young volunteers taking the skills they aquired back to their clubs and applying them to the great work they do in their local communities. We are extremely grateful to Fonthill for enabeling young people from Sussex to particiapte on this year's course."
