News from our Partners on the Covid-19 Emergency Support - Raising Futures
As the world continues to adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic we have been continuing to help our partners adapt their programmes of education and learning to ensure they are Covid-safe.
Raising Futures in Kenya, run a number of Seed of Hope centres offering vocational learning opportunities to over 260 young people every year. 75% of these are young girls and women. Young people come from a variety of situations that hinder their opportunities for education and training. At the centres they are equipped with vocational skills, financial literacy and business skills, as well as more holistic life skills that prepare them for employment of self-employment.
In order to re-open the centres safely following a significant period of closure due to the pandemic, Covid-safe measures needed to be implemented, in addition to training for staff and the provision of temporary classroom space in order to meet social distancing requirements. Thanks to our emergency grant programme we were able to support with funds to implement these measures.
It is great to see the centres back open and students back in the classroom. For more information visit www.raisingfutureskenya.org.uk
